Geo Mitchell Fundraising for the Deb Drew Fund

This weekend, Tim Mitchell (AKA man of the Mitchell household) is one of 12 taking part in a fundraising campaign called Bangers and Cash to raise money for Deb Drew.

Starting May 4th, this fund raiser with a difference involves 4 teams driving 3 barely roadworthy cars to North Wales, Liverpool and back, taking up some competitive challenges en route, including a race up Mount Snowdon, swimming Lake Bala and a cycle relay to Liverpool. The participants – collectively known as “Voters” – have already raised the money to buy the Bangers that on completion will be sold for Cash, with all proceeds going to the fundraise.

On the 26th August 2014 Debra Drew was holidaying with her two sons and friends in Devon. Whilst body boarding at Woolacombe beach, Debra went to the aid of a young boy and in doing so was nearly drowned. She was pulled from the water, alongside the boy whereby friends and RNLI lifesavers worked to save Debra until she was airlifted to Barnstaple Hospital. The young boy survived and made a complete recovery. Debra was in a critical condition for many months but after much medical intervention her condition improved and stabilised. She now faces a long road ahead with gruelling physio, occupational, speech and language therapy and neurological treatment but throughout this time Deb has shown her trademark determination and dedication to the work required.

If you didn't manage to catch the story on BBC Midlands Today, you can view it here.

Geo Mitchell are proud to be supporting such a fantastic cause, we wish Deb and all the Voters the best of luck.

Ever seen photographs of cute turtles choking on plastics bags? Or the plastic island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean (which is definitely NOT the island summer vacation I had in mind)? Don’t worry, we’re not here to depress you with such horrid images but we can all agree that it’s an understatement to classify these sights as alarming. For a change, the Wellness Journal will take a different approach to wellbeing and shed some light on the wellness of an even greater being – the Mother Earth.
